Sea Serpents

the ocean lies
like a tempest in wake;
pristine surfaces an illusion,
like a mirror that runs too deep.
[where the fractured glass
shows unearthly intentions
shrouded in misty eyes.]

we cast our sails
on first impressions
that can be as enchanting
as the sleight
of hand.
[the tricks magicians play
with fragile minds and frayed cards.]

[are you afraid of deep water?]

    Congrats on the bronze!

    Wow this is an awesome read. The imagery portrayed is amazing. Just one tiny thing, Slight of hand, when talking about it in the magical sense, as you are here, slight should be sleight, I only know as someone told me the other day on one of mine. A stunning poem, superbly penned. I look forward to reading more, congrats on the bronze

    Shit. I am PARANOID of deep water. And wow... I really loved the images in this that were portrayed with the similes. Awesome

    Stunning imagery, the metaphor is beautifully sought. The phrasing digs such a wait through out and the ending brings a intense yet soft finish. Very nicely crafted.
