The teachers never realise what they do. They put me in the back of the room, all by myself, they make me realise how people see me, or in fact, how they don’t.
The teachers never realise what they do. They ask everyone questions, they make them read aloud, yet they always manage to miss me.
The teachers never realise what they do. They look at me, look at me as if I’m not human, as if I’m one of them.
The teachers never realise what they do. They force me to be different, when different is something they don’t like, but different is what I am.
The teachers never realise what they do. They see the person who doesn’t exist, they never see the person who has nothing, who is nothing.
The teachers never realise what they do. They judge me, they judge the person who already judges themselves everyday.
The teachers never realise what they do. They display my work, the work they wanted, the work that contains my feelings of emptiness.
The teachers never realise what they do. They hesitate at my name, they know everyone else, but do they know me?

Excellent
They put me in the back of the room, all by myself, they make me realise how people see me, or in fact, how they don’t............................
Reminds me of how teachers ignore and forget the less brilliant while the brighter students are remembered for every favour and good thing that comes along. Just the idea of beibg put at the back shows how much they wouldnt want you to spoil the front row. But the problem is, they usually fail to notice the other special talent that each student posseses as an individual..........Too long a comment hey

This reminded me of my grade school experience. Also, for the record, I completely forgot you were English until I saw "realise" spelled with an "s" and not a "z.

A very interesting piece, not sure I fully understand it but I think I get the general thoughts your having. I know when I was at school, to sit at the back and be ignored by teachers was what everyone wanted...lol. You have certainly raised some interesting points here. Superbly penned hunni
