my precious baby boy.
While on this earth you brought,
your momma so much joy.
This year you'd have been turning 23,
I wonder what you would have become.
I know God must have needed you,
to take from me, my precious only son.
I remember how you'd make me laugh,
even when I was boiling mad.
I miss you so very much my son,
and this makes me very sad.
I bet it is pretty cool up there in Heaven,
getting to hear the Angels sing.
I can't wait to join you in Heaven son,
what a joy that meeting will bring.
Until my work on earth is through,
I will just have to wait.
Ask God for me one favor please,
to let you be there, to greet me at the gate.
Author notes
I was just sitting here thinking, about how special I must be to God... for him to choose me to give birth to a very special son who grew into such a wonderful young man...a special young man that God must have known even before he was concieved that he was going to be needed in Heaven to help God at the tender age of 18...what a wonderful thought to think that I was "chosen by God" to carry out the task of raising one of his "chosen"...all though I miss my son very much...I find comfort in knowing, God chose me to give birth to my son and raise him for 18 years...so he could go to Heaven to help God!

I think it is amazing that you give God the glory even in the pain. It's how you can tell when someone really knows God. When one has been up close and personal in their prayer time. I recently wrote a piece titled...I Found God. The last line is "I found God when I found perspective." That's just what you have done. You have took a situation that most would mourn over forever and cry how unfair it is and decided to take a different view. Refreshing and lovely. You will be blessed.

I think your your childs life was unfolding as your wrote this very personal and heart felt poem your poem should be handed out to parents who have lost their child it would bring them hope faith and comfort that there is a reason for god wanting a chi

This poem is so sad, but in such a touching and beautiful way. I'm extremely sorry for your loss.
-
great title. I feel your loss and will add you tomy prayers.
-
oh this is so sad it touched me because i just had a baby boy and i dont know how i could go on if i lost him.and i lost my sister so i can relate to your pain though losing a sister im sure, doesnt compare to losing a child.the title fits this poem very well i thought it was going to be about love.the only critique i have for this heartfelt write is that the rhyming seemed a little forced i think if you just poured your feelings out about your son without trying to rhyme it would be so much more touching than it already is.so much deeper.but thats it,i still like it.and im so so so sorry for your unfortunate, unfair, loss.

It's not great poetry, but it is very personal poetry and very sincere. That's what held me throughout. Best of luck in the contest.

Marvelous
Acceptance of loss to this world evokes a joy to be joined with God beyond our understanding. The last stanza reaches tender emotion to share greeting one when tasks of this earth are done and be joined where joy is spread over a place of rest.

Lovely poem written in love and loss of your precious son. May God bless your wish in which I'm sure he will do. So wonderful of a place to be in acceptance of God taking his chosen one your son to be in heaven with him at the young age of 18. I admire your faith. I'm personally struggling terribly. I haven't hit the first birthday of my son since his death in Sept. May God continue to bless you. Much love and blessings

Touching.
This poem is wonderful. You are very strong to not fall apart. I lost a friend a few years ago, who was like my brother. I can't imagine the pain of losing a child. Keep your chin up. <3

It is such a sad yet beautiful write but I find it almost impossible to know what you can say to a mother who has lost a child. You words are a lovely tribute to him and a celebration of your love as his mother and trust in your faith

Deeply-Moving
This is sad, yet to me it is a celebration of his time and life here on this earth. It is a wonderful piece of writing that hits home to all those parents who have lost their children. Powerful and beautiful writing indeed.
God Bless you
