Extend a hand
to planet earth
a land and home of common birth.
I give, why give?
To those who need,
because I need
because he needs
a mutual symbiosis no?
In fact that was what once I thought
symbiotic nonsense-parasitic essence
left lingering on the putrid planet.
Why give? It takes, it feeds, selfish gluttony--
belly protruding, swelling with innocents' blood.
And it grins, rows of razor-like teeth.
Sinking those obnoxious little fangs
deeper into humanity.
Shall I lend another hand,
and risk being bitten
by the very creature I once
sought to help?
Yet if I were to crush it,
only my blood would spill.
Please tell me what you think

of course I always have time to check on your writing (except not lately, with so many assignments to do I'm kind of falling behind) you are one of my favorite poets on this site
and your poetry is beautiful... this piece leaves me with an interested mind and a shivering body... your words are haunting and powerful. I really like the ending, it was really well crafted. Wonderful poetry my friend!
Keep writing
Polly
