I’ll be there when you call.
Just know that I am with you still;
I haven’t gone at all.
Think of me beside you,
I’m never far away,
and when you smell the flowers
you’ll know I’m there to say:
we were blessed with happiness
not even death can part,
and though I may have gone ahead
I’m still there in your heart.
Think of me as sunshine;
don’t let the shadows fall.
Remember me as blue skies;
I haven’t gone at all.
I’ll be beside you always;
look round, you’ll see my face.
Still joining in the laughter
as we watch the dogs play chase.
I haven’t gone without you,
I’ll be there when you call.
I’m walking right beside you;
I haven’t gone at all.
This is for Dad who
chose to give up his fight

I wrote this from a spiritualists point of view. Written as though the words are coming from my father in law, who took his own life 12 months ago. It was his choice and I believe a very brave choice. The system let him down, having got over double pneumonia, where we were told he wouldn't last the night, they then caused him to contract c-dificile. Not satisfied with that, they discharge him from hospital without telling the family what he had. He had been in hospital for 3months. He was 82 years old and didn't want his wife to have to care for him. As a spiritualist, I believe he is with us all every day.

this is a nice view to look t this. I hope you doing fine now.. sorry to know about your loss. My dad boss just passed away.. he was like a godfather to me. My dad respects him and follows as a son. He passed away in comma after ten years being in comma.
thanks for sharing your piece. best of luck in the contest -
And you should always believe so -
it is exactly what will keep you strong.
a million times you must have heard "I'm sorry for your loss.."
one million and one should feel so dull,
though I'm hoping this one is not put with the others toss..
~~~
thank you for your entry,
I'm glad you had the chance to share.
"we were blessed with happiness
not even death can part,
and though I may have gone ahead
I’m still there in your heart."
This poem would bring tears to anyone who has lost a loved one, myself included. After a string of funerals this past summer, I can't help thinking, "who will be next?"
I am sorry for your loss and wish you peace and love. -
Touched my heart
This poem touched me deeply. I too have experienced a terrible loss and this poem so clearly captures the hope that those left behind hold on to....the hope that perhaps they are still here with us. Your message of remembering brighter days and finding comfort in those memories is loud and clear. I think it is a very important step in the journey to heal and I send you strength for all your days.
-
This is very well written and obviously heartfelt. I like the way you used rhyme in a manner that was not forced or sing-songy. I am deeply sorry for your loss, and I hope writing this was in some way healing for you.
-
Having recently suffered a loss, this poem is a lovely reminder to keep focusing on the good memories rather than wallowing in the sadness. You have written a lovely poem and captured the many emotions brought on after a loss.
-
this is a beautiful poem. Structurally it flows really well and keeps the reader moving from stanza to stanza. emotionally i think this poem is beautiful and a great way to continuously heal from the hurt of your loss. Bless.
How lovely the words you write in these lines - we always hope that when one passes that they are still with us in some form - guardian angel perhaps. Makes us feel much better if they are with us in thoughts and in our hearts too - then there are all those wonderful memories that come flooding back now and then.
Dear Pat
On my own and Winklings' behalf, I am grieved at your loss. Only you know the pain of it. We support you at this time with patience and caring for you.
Lots of comforting AP love. Ron.
[Beautiful testament poem for memory and presence.]
Your words always flow with wisdom and calm
I needed this poem right now and I may need to read it a thousand times, it rings so true with what our loved ones would want to say if they could cross the veil between us and maybe they can if we just listen...silently listen. My heart is with you and your family even as my own heart pangs. When I cry for my mother I hold myself and suddenly find my hand stroking my hair or touching my own hand the way she would have if her hands had not been so paralyzed. Maybe it is her in spirit directing me to do it for her. I'm sending prayers for a warm love to blanket all of you but especially your mum. May she suddenly feel her husband's presence and find a smile upon her face because she knows he is there. Love..Su
