To Patricia in absentia

Although it seems you went away,
and now I seldom hear from you,
oh, when I do, it makes my day -
your talent shines among the few
whose poetry was first to see.
Although it seems you went away,
you'll always mean as much to me
as orchids in a large bouquet.

I think that words cannot convey
how much I miss our daily smiles;
although it seems you went away,
it isn't so - they're only miles
(she says, with commonplace denials).
To see a "pattyann" display
is worth a hundred other styles;
although it seems you went away.

    My dearest Margaret, only from you can these words be so lovely and so precious. The tears you have brought are happy ones. The background is blessed by such wondrous lines. Love, Patricia

    Nice to have such a friend, even in absentia. (Maybe you should check the spelling of that. I'm not sure.)

    I like the form you chose and I am salivating at some of Patricia's backgrounds. Very appetizing and elegant.

    This is a poem anyone would be proud and happy to get!
    Happy too for having written it, friendship is a gift!

    I know there is probably a name for this form because of the pattern of repeated lines, but my memory fails.

      Thanks Terry - friendship is a gift.
      This poem is a quatern, but I have not divided it into quatrains as usual. Maybe that is why the refrain strikes you as familiar but not quite nameable.
