the gardener Adam and his wife
(after reading from Genesis 1-4)
In a garden of amoral spring
Robes of colour grow and flourish
A stuttering sky holds its lavendar breath in suspense
For children of God live in unexpected consequence
Because creatures made for passion are always watched
And i know my lover's eyes explore every part of me
When i kneel to select from splotches of asparagus heads
Fondling the fleshy green stalks among divine beds
Assessing proportionate quality with my hands
Judging as if i could feel Abraham's chosen heart beat
As i held a razor-sharp blade to cut but not
To sever forever by leaving a length for a destined plot
Our wetted lips groaning worshipfully for a taste
Inflamed with nowhere to go but lust
During that delightful return to spring surrender
With no regrets safe within that Eden we were
Joined by intimacy - separate but formed as one
Abandoned to our nature in this annual sacrificial garden
Allowing us to see and feel in the beguiling cool of day
That promises made by starlight could betray
Suspending us with a lovely lie of sleep as appetites
Created dreams licked and caressed by hungering tongues
While in horizontal light we wore haloes sustaining our
Fiery going forth with open eyes to devour
Lucious naked stems fit for raw desire shuddering like Sodom's children
Before being wickedly cast into a scalding pot of water
Over which we uttered those sacred words bittersweet
Waiting to give each other of that harvest - and we did eat.

Absolutely Maahvahlous!!!

PROVOCATIVE!!!
Sexual union was before sin entered in and thus must be pure when consumed in love: lust is a stallion, which should be ridden in love to deliver perfection; the poet manages to discover a smidgen of Eden, but falls into our reality of Sodomite heritage on a dying Earth... great poetry... DW

Very intresting take on
Adam & Eve with a soft touch
of sensuality. Beautifully

A great take on an old story. The imagery is great.

You DO have a way with words. This is so sensual...
good luck in the contest.
