viriginia

here in virginia
such a pretty sight
trees that bloom in pink and white.

the ocean and mountains
lay two hours each
one to the south and one to the east

the rivers  runs
at a beautiful pace
and its called the james
filled with beauty and grace

down town richmond
the captial here
has a great university
and old histories too

there is monument avenue and
the maymont zoo
and is all free to the public too

here in virginia theres so much to do
but it all depends on what you like to do

so ill pull down the blanket
put pillows on fresh
as you decide what features you like the best

I've never been there but your poem shows me that it would be a good place to visit, for such is your beautiful imagery of the place you live. Only one typo I see, ''moument''. I think that should be ''monument''. Thanks for sharing and take care.

key comforting phrases like "at a beautiful pace" liked

    postcard with a personal spot

you turned my head from that first stanza, but the next verse set was with settling coordinates. It motivated such an expansion of visit to make home with.

from there main activity that's around a route to such calm, sounds nice.

your ending speeds up emphasis of suggesting seeing the area to resting with idea as guest almost!

thanks for checking out some of my work,
    babies are my subject

    Excellent

I loved alot about this poem - the rhyme, the sights, the geography and especially the last stanza: "so ill pull down the blanket/put pillows on fresh/as you decide what features you like the best".  I am so glad to hear about all these wonderful places. Boy am I going to have to do some travelling!! This entry sure has some potential, it captured the contest perfectly. Bullseye shot!
