From head to toes, looking my best
I’m with my Marine tonight
You would not believe the way I’m dressed
And every thing is just right
I step out of the car
And notice the moon lit street
I look up and thank my lucky star
For such a wonderful treat
I thank the lord for every moment he’s here
For I know that when he’s gone
My sadness will sear
But for now I have plans up until dawn
As these thought rumble in my mind
Then as I continue to gaze
And I hear some whispering from behind
And I can tell that it isn’t praise
I turn around, I see she’s alone
Those whispers were meant to hurt
I look at her with that tone
Then she touches my shirt
By then I’m ready to rumble
I walk into the alley
And to the floor heels tumble
She’s bout to have her self a rally
She comes round the corner
And says “what’s the deal”
Then I notice she’s a foreigner
Then I shout, with my voice so real…
“My man goes by many names
Marine, Devil Dog, Jarhead
This shits bout to go up in flames
No body says that what you just said”
Then you can imagine the fight
Come on I’m a Marine wife
We all know I don take it light
I live the tough life
I slip on my heels, fix my hair
Walk back out
My dress still flawless, without a tear
My Marine and I turn to shout
OH RAH

Thank you for entering my military contest. You have capture the essence of the military wife in this poem. Thank you for supporting your husband and we thank him for his service.

Wow this was REALLY good. I like how loyal, devoted, and patriotic both you and your poem are. Excellent write.

I love your devotion and your patriotism it is two things that go hand-in-hand when a spouse is serving the Armed Forces. I applaud your poem, it holds depth within the reality, and also adds a humor to temper the brutal truth of the matter.
Here is the poem I wrote to honor our Marines... hope you like it. http://allpoetry.com/poem/3529008
