to all my hopes and my dreams.
But most importantly,
that I could verbalize my fears.
Thank you for the caring heart,
that never betrayed the trust.
But most importantly,
for putting your trust in me.
Thank you for the loving hands,
that always caught me when I fell.
But most importantly,
reached down to pick me up.
Thank you for the tireless legs,
that always climbed with me.
But most importantly,
carried me, when I couldn’t climb.
Thank you for the loving soul,
that loved me for who I am.
But most importantly,
loved me, in spite of me.
Thank you for the trusting eyes,
that saw all of who I was.
But most importantly,
saw, all that I could be.
Thank you for the soft voice,
that always knew just what to say.
But most importantly,
knew when to keep silent.
Thank you for the loving arms,
that held me when I cried.
But most importantly,
Lifted me up from despair.
Thank you for the trusting heart,
that always forgave me.
But most importantly,
never stopped loving me.
Thank You for that loving soul,
that loved to the end.
But most importantly,
Thank You for You,
My friend.

Great write by the way,, love it. -
I'm so sorry for your loss, it must have been incredibly hard to get through especially after so many years of friendship;
This was a beautiful thank you poem - so few people find friends like that in a lifetime, and you were lucky, I think,to have known her -
She sounds like the kind of person that we'd all cherish should we have them in our lives, and i hope her soul is at peace now.
Thank you for sharing this with us

Absolutely superb. I loved every second of it. Definetly is worth another look at. I can relate to this on so many different levels and its so moving and sad. I'm not very good at poetry myself, but I love to come on this site and see refreshing work like this absolutely spectacular. I have a way of reading good poetry more then I have a way of writing it. Its a gift I guess lol. Keep up the great write and I will keep on checking out your poetry.

But most importantly,
reached down to pick me. (add in 'up' here maybe?)
(not a criticism, just thought you might have wanted to know about that)
This piece is so wonderfully uplifting. I am so sorry to hear of your loss, I too lost a best friend when I was 12. My Mom and his mom were friends, and he was 4 when I was born. We were inseparable until he died in a car accident when he was 16. After 12 years of him always being there it was excruciating to get that phone call. I could not imagine 25 years of friendship then not having that person. You are truly strong and this is an amazing, beautiful, wonderful, heartfelt dedication to your best friends memory. It is so wonderful to me to see someone express their thanks in such a wonderful way. Well done!

Thank you, yes she was a wonderful friend, she was there through the breakup of my marriage and every other relationship after that. She use to joke that our relationship was the longest either of us had ever had. We met when we enrolled our daughters for kindergarden and they are still friends.
I miss her. -

It's very special to have a friend like you did. My mom had a friend that she met when my Dad died and right after that my brother found out he had cancer. Well they met in the children's hospital- "Chapel Hill" cause both of their children were sick and they have been there for each other since..about 35yrs!! A friendship like that will always be charished.
