What are you zero?
Are you something or nothing at all?
A number is what you are,
That makes you something but...
You are zero,
You are nothing,
You can't change anything by yourself,
You are nothing but...
You exist,
So you are something,
You are a number,
You are something but...
You are nothing but...
You are something,
Can you be both?
Nothing yet something?
You are an infinite paradox,
Nothing yet something,
Something yet nothing.
So, what are you zero?
Nothing?
Or something?
Author notes
"You can't change anything by yourself," means something like this: 4+0=4

Oh, how I loved this!
This makes one stop and have to think about something that most of us don't ever think about
I like that!

Thank you for sharing and for being part of the contest...good luck! -
Makes it rather complexing to consider, it's mathematically the same as 'is the glass half empty or half full?' Is Zero something or nothing... Excellent thought.
Thanks for entering the round, your write was fun to read... almost like my mind. Best of luck to you! -
Wow, great job on the gold. I loved it. (Even though it made me a little dizzy to reap) :S

Ooooooh. I like this piece super heaps! It kind of makes me giggle, but then paradoxes tend to do that to me. I like the fact that you constantly flip between zero being nothing and zero being something, as well as the fact that (clearly, because it is an infinite paradox) no conclusion can be reached and the reader is left to sit there and just kind of "hmmmm" over it.
I do quite like the "you can't change anything by yourself" line as well - very true (and occasionally very very useful when dealing with certain algebraic manipulation *odd*.)
Poor Zero!
