Speak

You speak to me
though I cannot remember
your face, your touch.

You were taken so violently
at his hand, lost to us,
replaced with misery incarnate.

Still, somehow I know you
in my brothers, in my sister,
in my very self you speak to me.

They say I am like you
the longing deepens, aches
so many years now, a lifetime.

Still, you speak to me.

Author notes

it's interesting how one can learn so much about themselves from observing family members

    Nice.

What a short, but sweet poem.
I can tell it is direct from your heart.
    Well Done.

That's just so horrible and cruel, I'm so sorry you know what happened and can see the world through vicious eyes after this.

The vicious one is the "replacement", not the narator. His is a wistful longing and reflection on the nature of a loving mother he will never really know.

Your poem fills me with longing

to have experienced the depth and duration of love you describe with such wholesome honesty. It seems to me that only the memory of love is lasting, everything elses goes on changing. What a caring person you portray in your work. Your message comes with such deft ease of style and tone and no mawkishness at all. I enjoy reading it so much; But your self depreciating poem"Rino" is still my favorite. Return the consideration?

    so well with
    great sensitivity.

    Touching the Heart

You speak to me of the sadness I embrace you for listening for the ability to listen the realm unseen speaks loudly of your innocence and purity of heart. Be well. Peace in light and love. Best wishes in life and the contest.

That is so true! Your poem has such a clear imagery, somewhat haunting but in a good way
Good luck wit all you do
