Why does it hurt?
I bang my head in the pavement
inducing pain,
trying to suppress deeper agony.
Blood rushing through my ears
to drown the screams inside my mind.
Blood to cloud my vision,
scarlet to erase the nightmares.
I twist my body at impossible angles
for the epiphany to bloom.
Why does it hurt so much
inside my aching heart?
