coat of peace

Missing image
have you ever heard
something so soft
as the sound
of snow falling

the trees, dense
deafly silent
as cotton enchantment
softens every sway

the animals, like humans
hidden, warm
and still

and I, so in it
capture it,
and listen
to it's peaceful fade

Please tell me what you think

I like this song especially for its vivid silence. To me it portrays liveliness and yet a hushed voice at the same time. Very creative. G

There is sadness in beauty, because we know it has to fade, as the last line of this poem reminds us. Of course, this is all the more reason to celebrate it! Your poems always take me to peaceful places where I can rest safely. Thank you.

Wow. Again I'm so impressed. I don't like winter because it is cold and dark, but you painted the beautiful side of winter all can appreciated. You create not only pictures with your words describing nature but also beautiful tranquil feelings. A reader can return to these words and experience the setting and feeling again and again.

Absolutely beautiful. I had to pause after reading your first stanza, as it just made me gasp. To watch snow fall is so indearing to the soul. But to hear its softness. We know there must be a higher being.

Hello, I just submitted an entry that used the first stanza of your poem as a prompt. I can see why. Such a beautiful, quiet image. The gentle softness and blessing of peace was an inspiration for me.

This makes me miss the snow that I remember from childhood. Now that I live in California, I have to travel to see or play in the snow. My favorite lines are:

    "the trees, so solid
    as cotton enchantment
    softens every sway"

Your words paint a picture of a serene landscape.

    Seeing

To sit and enjoy the beauty of nature. That new snowfall or the autumn leaves. We, at times, do not appreciate this beauty. ButI know you do
