Chase

A story so old, a curse so deep
a cliff along the skyline and me
atop the ledge, a toe to the edge
and down a drop so staggering and steep

Along the bottom, a river runs through
across the water standing solid and true
a fear I own, and here alone
and I can't seem to make it to you.

For so long I've been looking down
and there's nowhere I can turn around
still, I can't take the fall, don't do anything at all
yet you're barely able to wait around.

Your mind tends to wander, to wander,
far enough that you aren't sure
but your heart keeps your feet grounded for me
I count the beats of my heart getting faster

I feel fit to die, and my heart agrees
as far out of my chest it flees
Sharp edges fly past, it's falling so fast,
and it's near unbearable to see.

Down it plunges, a fall from grace
across a river of change of face
and in your hand, my heart does land
all I have to do is make the chase.

    Ouch..

Can relate with this stanza way too much.

I feel fit to die, and my heart agrees
as far out of my chest it flees
Sharp edges fly past, it's falling so fast,
and it's near unbearable to see.
