A grotesque strangling
Inside such yearning
Whose lives become infested
By a tangled, loveless heart
Consuming the deepest part
Of our over encumbering soul
Keeping secrets from ourselves
And telling our subconscious
Feelings of betrayal
Creep up into our thoughts
Blinding all emotions
Causing us to fall apart
Inside our mind’s deep chambers
A secret gate can be found
The gnarled vines covering
All evidence that within us
Inside this secret gate
A paradise awaits us all
It can never be opened
Without a lover’s key

A strong ending and good use of metaphor here.
Gnarled becomes the twisted mazes of what we
choose to hold inside; cloistered to all but
those who reach out with the most enduring love.
