Forgotten

Missing image

Another cold reclusive night,
laughter fills the room,
sitting alone,
drinking sweet poison.

Reminiscing,
about her.
Been gone 5 years today,
the cancer,
abducted my love.

My children left,
never could look at me the same,
after the incident last fall.

I sit here, withering inside,
I'm known as a stranger,
lived here all my life.

Now I am nothing!
But a beggar on the street.

  • aww
    sad but pretty
    whats the incident?
    • I'm not really sure to be honest. I was thinking some sort of an abuse while being under the influence. I just thought I would leave it up to the reader.
      • i see
leaving it up to the reader worked, it made me wonder and think about what kinds of things it could have been

This is such a fantastic poem, using many poetic devices. You also leave the reader pondering about the "incident". Thank you so much for entering my contest and very best wishes!
