The rain still pours on me.
I have made it out alive.
Out of this dingy halls that keep too many children hostage.
I was in their position once.
Many years ago.
When I was living with the vampire clan as a human, they sent me to the nearest human school. So I would not become secluded from my kind. That I would remember how to act as a human, when I no longer am.
Still. I sit in my car, rain dripping off the tip of my nose.
Making a futile attempt at making it to my lap, but my hand is to fast, and smacks it away in mid air. It collides with the window pane and I sigh at the enhanced splash my ears receive.
I sit. Thinking back. I'm always thinking back. Almost as if I miss the past. Most I miss Henry.
I drift asleep.
"Henry! Where's my backpack! I can't find it and schools starts in five minutes!"
"Hush hush Alice." He raises a hand, telling my to quite. "I believe you let one of your petty prey borrow it. Check the pile."
I blink. On the verge of laughing. I had in fact dropping my pack last night, letting some silly boy pick it up. It was part of my training. I had snapped his neck and let the clan feed off him, not letting it go to waste.
I went over to the pile. The pile was in fact the things we collected off the dead the clan fed on.
I went over and rummaged through the pile, finding it near a few wallets. Smudging away a blood drop on one of the straps.
"Ok bye!" I wave to the solemn faced Henry who was sitting in the shadows, reading.
"Try to be more social Alice, we see more then you think." He winked, waving my goodbye.
All the others slept in the shadows of the rundown house. I opened the front door very slowly, leaving too early fro the sun's rays to creep through the tiny gaping hole to the outside world.
The school was a few block from the house. I walked, keeping time and movement. Trying to incorporate my training. Becoming quicker in my steps. As I drew closer to the school I stopped, trying to keep Henry's advice in mind.
I sat on the bench outside the school doors. Always I came too early.
Always I claimed the same bench, sitting half in the shadows, half in the sun.
My life.
I try to. I really do. A faint smile finds my lips at the guy who passes every morning.
The brighter, more human side wants me to say hi.
The the darker, more vampiric side says prey.
I'll never know which screamed the loudest that day.
Tada!

Dangit, you always leave it with a cliffhanger... Grr.... But it's very nice once again. Nice to see the conflict within the character. And as always, it's well-worth the wait. Great job. :0)
