sitting here
in the
neon
afterglow
certain
ticker quotes
flash across
the empty
mind
these
flashing
red lights
harshly
intone
emotion
something
i had long
since forgotten
in the mass
of concrete
and asphalt
landscapes
the constant buzz
of those machines
has made me all
but forget
the drone
of insects
and there's
one who has
pulled me
back out of
it all
back
into
the
wild
and
the
memories
come flooding
back to me
as i now
recall
what
once
was
so soon
too soon
the gray
world
calls
wanting
my soul
again
and so i wait
leading the
double life
containing
my true self
underneath
and within
this plastic
exterior
and i
can
only
unwrap
my secret
cellophane
dreams of
natural
beauty
and
primal
purity
