She had locked away
any knowledge of his existence.
Now and again,
in her dreams,
she would unlock that drawer
and finger, lovingly,
items that wove themselves
into blissful memories
around her heart.
In total denial,
reality would hover
like some slimy beast,
ready at any moment
to pounce upon her thoughts
and break her already sullied,
scarred spirit.
Always yearning
to throw that key into oblivion,
she continued,
time and again
to hold memories,
that never really existed.

my favorite of yours so far. this is brilliant. i love how she only opens the drawer in her dreams. this is so poetically lovely and sentimental (in my head at least). beautiful write. lovely.

This is one marvellous interpretation of the picture, and I like how you managed to put so much emotion in it

Very well done!
