Walking through the dark night
not sure of what will come next
patrolling forward of the safe zone
to confirm that the area is clear
Then an ambush kicks off
your training takes over
you fight through and mop up the survivors
take them back to base
The interegation starts
you find out they are the tip of a large sword
coming down on your position
fast and hard
call forward your reserves
to cope with the onslaught
you know not all will survive
but thats what were paid for
Whether you believe in the cause
or the rhyme or reason for you being there
you carry on for the sake of your brothers in arms
to save a their life rather than let them take it
The battle begins
and its all over in a flash
you've survived and your team are beside you
adrenalin has seen you through
your injured but dont feel it
after battle the adrenalin has gone
you start to shake uncontrollably
nothing you can do but wait it out
5 minutes pass you grab a coffee
have a chat with your mates
and make fun of it
thats what it is all about
camaraderie!
