On Sacred Grounds

Great spirits whisper through prairie grass
they speak in singing silent echoes,
to the great plains thundering hooves

Strong winds will carry,
grazing buffalo herds
to our sacred hunting grounds
and
brave warriors
riding on painted ponies,
out of the rising morning sun,
will hunt.

Feathers from eagle wings flight
will float to the earth
on evening cool breeze
zephyrs swirls
and
we will pray to the summer winds
in sunsets tangerine skies
pillow patch clouds

giving thanks to natures buffalo winds
light of days hunt
and
nightfalls, hoot of the owl.
