Hooves Painting These Mountain Tears

A breeze echoes whispers
Tattooing in a pointed ear.
A shadow yet awaits through pictures
Hooves painting these mountain tears.

A mother through the worried
A sister close to faint
A real daughter fencing the scurried
My rough skin tells she is low on paint.

Survival carryings and light spread out
A sheet of many hearts.
This castle hovered in my mind through pouts
I will never stay in part.

A lie in black and white
A shadow beneath my wings
Maybe if we blocked out the fright
Of our different outside rings.

I'm a breeze that echoes whispers
Tattooing in another's ear.
Saddened by shadows, I am the picture
I've just ran out of paint.

Author notes

To be clear, this poem is about a dragon and a unicorn who lived on a mountain, the unicorn being an adopted daughter of the dragon. The unicorn's life is slowly running out, though. The dragon is of course upset, but can't help to think that maybe if they were the same species, she wouldn't be dying. But once the unicorn dies, she is given the job to be her father's guardian angel, and watches over him until he fades away and joins her. c:
