Have you ever pondered what life is?
It's the sparkle in a childs eyes
when a bunny runs past their feet
giggling, chasing freely after it
so cute and tempting it is.
Older persons, much wiser than all
has lived through so much in life
and now has time to tell of it
the bad and good times as well.
See the mother who just birth her child
screaming in wretched pain, then in joy
holding against her the child once inside
such elation is felt with her child now born.
Hearing the sobs as a little boy falls
his mom comes running scooping him up
soothing and promising all will be fine
a quick magic kiss; a pat on the behind.
Watching the bees as they fly about
contemplating the nectar of each flower
landing; yet remaining on guard
a quick taste; he'll be back for more.
I see the caterpillar crawling up the tree
soon it will nestle and a change will be seen
for when its cocoon opens wide
inside will be found a lovely butterfly.
Life means many things to us
in one lifetime, most never sees all;
yet with the balance of nature planned
such a perfect book was once penned.
