He stood and watched as you went away
Some how he knew you could not stay
I'll do my best he seemed to say
To keep safe those you love
Throughout the day he paced the floor
But as evening came he stood by the door
and vigilant watch he kept as though
to keep safe those that you love
He was just a dog, how could he know
How much you would give, how far you would go
Or that you'd never be coming home
to keep safe those you love

uh... i don't mean this to sound negative at all, but that didn't cheer me up any...
it was a very good poem. thank you for entering. i truly love my dog and my man. Rodney used to wait by the door every night, but he don't do that anymore. He keeps my company.

Touching
The sentiment in this intensely
affectionate write was most enchanting.
The depth of love shown by man's most
trusted creature (a dog), displays how
man and beast can dwell in harmony.
Nicely expressed. -
