The True Story of the King

Once upon a time from the land of old,
came a gallant prince on his white charger.
I must declare this knight was quite bold,
I don’t think an ego, could be larger.

A charming bloke that hailed from British Isles,
he entered with an English attitude.
Wooing the damsels with roses and smiles,
I had no idea one could be so rude.

But lo and behold he picked up his quill
and on the parchment his magic began.
Penning the rhymes that gave ladies a thrill
as they all fell in love with this rhyming man.

So now CricketJeff is dubbed King of Rhyme,
wooing the girls with poems at bedtime.

  • Oh. This is a nice little poem that you have going on here. You really got a smile out of me. lol I liked the part about there not being a more arrogant knight around because I could totally picture that. That was really funny and then he whips out a pen and starts slaying women's hearts. That's very cute and funny. I'm sure he just loved it.
  • Really cute, funny and with a great rhyme scheme. A nice tribute.

Amera mighty Queen of all the form
Majestically grants me rule of Rhyme
Even just to read this tribute warm
Risks giving me a feeling so sublime
A poet who inspires my written word
Wrote this about my life and made me smile
Rude and rhyme and love for the absurd
Oh How I have been smiling for a while
    Tomorrow I must write a "Fank-you Guv!"
Exactly what to say I do not know
For sonnets are a gift you give with love
Other forms of verse don't give this glow
Reigning Queen Amera Thank you sweetly
Maybe you have caught me here completely
Ending quite a day lets say "repletely"

My flow and meter aren't perfect here I know, perhaps you will forgive me just this once,  aperfect tribute needed something extra from me and you know how I feel about acrostics, I have no idea how you do them so well. Here is mine for you, wiith thanks. Oh and the form? Well What is the use of a couplet when you can have a triplet to end? My daftest Sonnet form to date!

Ahh true, those who wrote the sonnet long ago did woo the ladies. Have no idea who Cricket Jeff was. sound as if he were a bit of a ladies man. It must also be the poet than women are drawn toward.

I have to say, I love the last line.

I've only read a few poems of CricketJeff's, but they're really good, and I think this poem definately fits him.

    Hope he likes it!
