"BUBBA"
In memory :
Basil (Bubba) Jackson
August 29, 1958 - December 16, 2007
As tears flow a smile lights my face,
for no one will ever take your place.
Your were my adopted son
but closest friend as well.
When you came over,
we always sat a spell.
Never
a cross word spoken
even when we disagreed.
You were there in an instant
when I was in dire need.
Brilliant with amazing insight.
I learned much from you and you
from me.
We talked for hours without end,
as if we had all day and night.
I had talked to you the night before
planning your future evermore.
You told me you loved me like no other,
much more than your real Mother.
I saw you as an adopted son
but you soon became my best friend.
There was no subject we could not discuss.
Your brilliant mind was a great plus.
You are gone but your Spirit still lingers,
for I feel your presence
near me each day,
slight touchings of fingers!
Hugging my shoulders and kissing my head,
as you whisper in my ear,
don't look for me here, look in Heaven.
Author notes
My "Bubba" died (accidental overdose at 49) on the one year anniversary of my daughter-in-laws death( she was 36)..I miss them both so much, as my tears fall.

I felt your sadness in this write. I could also sense the soul of love and eternity in your words. Knowing that this is a brief seperation and those who are of the spirit of love and compassion are never far from us really! Thank you for sharing this.

Such sadness in your life losing your son. This is such a lovely poem for him and that last line is awesome. The tears of a mother never stop flowing for our children no matter how big they grow, your arms ache to hold them one more time. As you will again one day.

A loss a heart expresses
It tucks in the heart of a reader, a loss of such a fine person as in this poem of yours, I could just feel the spirit of your adopted son in this piece, it is close to you, and endearing. You had a great heart for him, I feel it in this magnificent piece of work here, May the Spirit always walk you with condolences and peace!

Oh Bless your heart my dear
In the passing of children is so tugs at the soul for they are the very stitching of faith yet we know its not forever .As we reside here on earth so do they in heaven watching over us every day .And indeed we feel their presents always through our thoughts and dream and the tenderest touch about our hands and face . This poem is great and shows such love indeed

Thanks to my "brat" for noticing the errors in my poem, they have been corrected...Thanks sweetie..I did use Spell Check but that doesn't always catch everything!

Oh, mom... I wish I could hold you while your tears fall! I can tell that you loved this man so deeply that the parting of his spirit and body was very hard on you. But you are correct dearest, he comes to call often, watching over you and ensuring that others come when you need them most. He watches over you and still walks beside you when you need him most.
Hugs and loves dearest...
PS.... you need to check the spelling and grammar on some of this one mom... learning has an "n" not an M in it and without is one word not in this case.
loves
your brat child

Nicely written piece here, I must say!! I can tell it was written from your heart and it was a worthy entry for my contest, thank you... I think my favorite stanza had to be the last, with the line "don't look for me here, look in Heaven." Now that's just grand!! I also like how this was written with a different sort of theme... you chose a different angle of lost love... good work!! Thanks again!!
