Raindrops fell on her stringy hair
She caught them in her little hand
Tear drops fell from her wilted eyes
She dropped them as though they were bland
Raindrops fell from the midnight sky
She watched them falling in the sand
Teardrops rolled down her dampened cheeks
Sorrow beckons - can it withstand?

Judging of the Contest, Nature Heals. The entries were all so beautiful. The gold trophy was easy to judge. “Tree of Love” for option number 2. The rest weren’t quite so clear cut. I awarded a trophy for each best entry per option, and then honorable mentions for the other two. I must admit, I have a real soft spot for mothers and grandmothers. And these were the two that won the silver and the bronze. “Precious Radiant Gem” won the silver for option number 3. After reading this poem, it was one that stayed with me to the end; the endearing love of a mother represented by a gem always worn about the poet’s neck. “Beautiful Ray of Perfection” won the bronze for option number 1. I was extremely moved by this eloquent and loving tribute to the poet’s grandmother. These were both new poems that were written specifically for this contest. If there were more trophies to give out, many more would have won. I gave “The Laughing Brook” an honorable mention for option #4. “The Touch of a Friend” won an honorable mention for option #5. There were 22 more honorable mentions; and here is the list. All lovely and worthy of this and more. I cannot tell you how grateful I am for all of your entries, especially the ones that wrote especially for this contest. A special thanks goes To the other judges, Theresa and Nikki, whose help was invaluable. We were unanimous about the gold trophy. If you have time, I highly recommend that You read “Tree of Love” . It is one of the most beauteous poems that I have read in a long time. All of the contest entries were commented on at least once by me and the other judges. I enjoyed reading them all and felt extremely enriched by it. I liked the imagery. It reflects the healing quality of rain and tears mingled together. I too have always felt this when it is raining; that nature is crying with me- when I am sad. It is cleansing. This was a very good anology and thank you for your entry. Best of luck in the contest and congratulations on the silver trophy. It's interesting that in Spanish, I always confuse the words "Llover" and "Llorar". One means "to cry" and the other means "to rain". They may be synonymous to me.

This is really beautiful. It flows so well and expresses emotion wonderfully. I really like the image that you have created. Amazing job.

VERY nice write. I enjoy rhyme, this was a beautiful rendition of it, never missing a beat. The flow was beautiful, and the emotion within it, was so heartfelt and strong. You forced the reader to feel what you felt writing it!! That is a great piece of poetry!!! Best of luck in the contest, and thank you truly for sharing with us!!
