My word has always been my bond
others know on me they can rely,
no need for lawyers or contracts
as my ethics are to never let people down.
I try to always do unto others
as I would want them to treat me
with much respect and dignity
where we need no fancy papers.
The truth you'll find so easily
within a smile or eyes
for they cannot hide genuine integrity
you can see deep into the soul.
A handshake can also tell you much
whether one is strong of conscience
they're not afraid to take firm hold
nor back away in immorality.
Sadly I have met in my life
those who have not carried through
I just hope they can live with themselves
and not hurt others as they did me.
I will keep walking this life's path
the same way I have all through
an eye for an eye is not a motto
that will ever work for me.
