The study of plate tectonics

The dawn light caught her,
half awake smile,  and she
felt the quiver and stir.

Magic grows of its own accord.
At best, we temper the flows,
ride the swift current or tumble
into dreams that fetch us to unexpected
shores. She stroked herself, felt young,

curled against the back of muttered snores,
let the magic become incorporated with love.

Muttered snores? The rafters shake in my house! I used to watch (for many years) to see if he would begin breathing again between the quakes. There would be a total shudder go through him periodically, but you know, after so long, it's just everyday stuff. I'd worry more now if I didn't hear it. We temper the flows, indeed.

As the continents move and the crusts change from the effect. Yes we are not the world we once knew.

I must be on another planet because I was thinking something totally different when I read this. Great stuff Tom.

Now I am curious and dieing to know what thoughts have swirled around inside from this stirring stick of my words. The title is just a reference to how feelings are often like continents and when they collide the landscape is changed. Still, the planet, please and all ensuing conversations, not solely the rational ones.
      Love Tom B.

Thank you for entering my competition. This is very sensual and flows beautifully. I was puzzled by the title however, but given the abstract quality of the prompt it doesn't detract! Well done

Thanks for the bronze. In reference to the title: I viewed all the emotions and feelings like continents colliding within us, causing eruptions and earthquakes that create new internal landscapes. This morning in the poem was just one such event.

Thanks for stopping by. I used the half awake state to create an opportunity to allow the continents of emotion, feeling and mystery to heave upon each other in this.
      Peace & Light, Tom B.

I thought it was "tectonics" but I have been mistaken/wrong before... this is quite incredible - tangible, tactile - I like the comparison - such a fitting metaphor, particularly with the snoring!

Could be tectronics, have to look it up. Thanks for enjoying it so much. I just had the sense that we are like planets with huge masses of that shift and move and grind against each other. It played in my thinking and the way I handled the images in this piece. My wife will tell you that when I snore it is a quaking to tear down the house
Good to see you again. I have missed you, but in internet land, once gone it is like a breeze leaving your cheek. You love the memory but you have nothing to hold on to.
      Love, Tom B.

Though I really don't understand "platronics" and how it related to your poem, so please excuse my ignorance. What I did love the transference of being older, Stroking her body, and then unconditionally curled up next to her husband, ignoring his snoring. This is the true magic of unconditional love. I looked at the image and not a single emotion caught my attention. You are so brilliant to see out-of -the box and write how the image made you feel!
Best wishes in this contest. As always, though I don't always understand, I love the way you use your words!

You could say that platronics is the study of how the earht moves. Carol King's " I feel the earth move ..." That sort of thing. We have our dreams and our passions and in real life they mix nicely with the one snoring next to us and all the love we have.

My words? My words are just how I change the sound of the wind.
      Love Tom B.

I don't know better, but I guess since I live in a earthquake zone, I guess I should.
I love the sheer weight of this. I love the scattered feeling I read in the words. I love the softness you've wrapped this piece in, an ideal package for this lovely little piece.
Hope things are going well for you my friend,
    Jin

To quote Carol King:"I felt the earth move under my feet." This was both an unfolding, a moment when the dreams opened doors and a nesting, a realization that dreams start from where you stand. Glad you enjoyed this.
I am doing fine dealing with this rambunctous and messy thing called life.
      Be well,
      Yours in the LIght,
      Tom B.

There leaves for every woman a sense of knowing when we read this verse.
There is a slight pleasure in the morning light that there is someone warm against your back.

When we let the everyday become a moment, sublime, totally unique -- we see how our lives resonate with opportunities to experience the wholeness of our love in each moment we are alive. This is, but, one.

    Stunning

the magic flows as the dawn kisses the soft sweet light...a gentle caress as she is awakened to her own youth...the magic becomes completely incorporated with her tender love...sighs...This must have  flowed from a open spot in your heart my Master Poet...sooth like chilled sweet red wine across a warm tongue...

    Masterpiece of Emotions

This write is of mystical mornings when you feel the earth move, in more ways then one..
    The lines I adored was:

"into dreams that fetch us to unexpected
shores. She stroked herself, felt young,

curled against the back of muttered snores,
let the magic become incorporated with love."

I bet this lines touches the heart & soul of many ladies. You gave me two very vivid scenes of nature.
It reminded me of the question; "Did the earth move for you?" Hope am not to far off key, but I still enjoyed this write and the picture it painted in my mind.......novy

You caught a touch of the humor in this one. Most truly spiritual, magical, loving events have humor hidden in them. Sometimes I look back and chuckle, amazed and soft all at once. Glad you enjoyed.
      Love, Tom B.
