Der andorranische Jude

they said he was greedy
and he believed it

they called him 'Jew'
a useless, greedy Jew
(not that they were prejudiced)
he believed it

they accused him of murder
(he'd never been at the scene of crime)
he died
they lived

their lies
never whitewashed
by his sister's despair
and the priest's remorse

  • Thank you for your entry and good luck in the contest.
  • Nicely written and constructed piece
  • a sad poem, there is always a scapegoat to be found somewhere if the elite want to get off with their madness, a good poem, full of dark sorrow and hidden agendas.
