heartbeats and soulsongs

Clear blue crystalline glacial orbs
meet my murky brown puddles
and freeze my soul.
Ah, alas, i lie, it is only my heart
skipping a beat or two
or stopping altogether.
His blue eyes windows i see through
to a heart as hard and cold
such as only diamond eyes can hold
never feeling the warmth that comes
from loving another soul.
I can relate.
For still my heart waits, frozen in his gaze
wanting to beat again.

He lifts his guitar to play
and closes his eyes as he sings
the tune he lays down gives my heart a beat to follow
synchronizing with his song, his soul
i thought was so cold and clear
i see that there are shadows there
i hold all mine in my eyes
he uses ice and glass to hide
perhaps i will be the first to throw the stone
that brings his glass house down, his home,
no one should be lonely alone.

But the final chord strums free
dissipating into the quiet night, drowned in silence
he releases his guitar, extraneous extension of himself
and with it releases me from the tune of his soul
still i'm lost in the glass labrynth of his eyes
i can see through but cannot reach
the stage he leaves, but his gaze remains with me.
in a single look he has become
the beat of my heart, the song in my soul
i suppose now the only thing left to learn or know
is his name.
