With diminishing capacity
In this ulcerous cavity
Just the thought asphyxiates
All the pureness inside to evocate
Vomiting forth this atrocity
The next breath
May be my last
Feel the oxygen disperse
I fear not death
Nor its murderous wrath
There are things far worse
In this breathless calamity
Threatening collapse
From the fear that deceives
Toxicity gasps
In the air I breathe
Blood shall curdle
Subjugate to aggravate
Pain too great to hurdle
My lungs can’t aspirate
For the greedy have sucked up the atmosphere
A contagious bronchitis
Spread by apathetic sapiens
From this bloody and raw esophagus
These riling words shall rend
All the infectious vermin who dare come near
Lungs black and dry
In the wake of disease
As my life fails
I curl up, I die
No longer will I inhale
This air I breathe

This is very well written, Andy - sorry, I waited to comment til after judging to preserve anonymity. I myself am not that prone to reading dark pieces but if I do, it's good to find one as solid as this. I only question "evocate" but maybe I'm out of it. Thanks for bringing yourself in!
