Earth lies sheltered in the dappled light of white-barked aspen trees
Communing with dryads beneath cool woodland canopies
Enjoying musky fragrances of damply sweetened loam
Luxuriating in the pleasures of her summer home
Listening to secrets chime-ing from the tinkling leaves
Earth drowses at the feet of stately poplars
Rustling euphonies never failing to enthrall
Woodland music celebrating life and nature
Spirits lifting enchanted by the call
Lulling the land , making love to the wind
Resting each winter, re-awakening each spring
Earth listens to the little pine siskins lisping busily
Flitting about from fir tree to fir tree
Until at last tis time to gloam
When darkness encroaches and shadows moan
When branches bend and bow and sway
And creak like ancient bones
Glimmering with glamour earth revels with the fey
Abundant in the forests where the wood nymphs play
