There is no healing my heart
The pieces have been scattered
By an unforgiving arctic wind
You watched them blow away
You could have helped me
But your laugh stilled my efforts
I grabbed as many pieces as I could
But without help, there aren't enough
To put it back together again
I walk away weeping for my loss
As your amusement completes the cost
My soul was lost the day
You laughed at my agony
I think though, despite your indifference
I may have found enough pieces
To patch my heart back together again
But sadly it isn't and will never again be whole
It is a Frankenstein
Bits and pieces crudely stitched
To create the resemblance of what once was
But it is, even though bits and pieces,
Capable of some semblance of love
And once the stitches can be removed
I will love like never before
And your laughter will have been in vain
For though only pieces to you,
It is completely whole to me
