We Celebrate Amir Rumi*

We Celebrate Amir Rumi*

On spring-break
Our ecstasy
Once started in that
Florida seaside hotel room
Continued
Oblivious
To the rain
Which fell
Every afternoon
As pure and wet
As tears
Dripping from our eyes
Onto lips
Which tremored
From an addiction
More powerful
Than poppies
Whose petals
Dissolved
Into moments of need
When lovers
Take words out of
Each others mouths
Keeping secrets
Of shared lips
Because like
Exotic Sufis
Moved to dance from love
We must ignore even
The hot restaurants
Of reconstituted latino menus
Singing of salsa and spice
Cooled by frozen daiquiris
And delicious ocean waves
Calling us
To break our trance
Which would surely bring death
While those silent chambermaids
Impatiently waited outside
Only to trace afterwards
With envious fingers
Our outlined embrace
From musky wetness
On silk sheets
Where we never rested.

*Amir Rumi - Sufi poet/singer
in whose memory every year
continuous song/dance happens
for 10 days/nights
