Easter Haiku Chain {Gold}

easter eggs colored,
skillfully done with patience
only mothers have

her bright eyed children
sit watching in amazement,
such masterpieces

let the hunt begin,
the children frantically search
squealing in delight

with each treasure found
smiling hearts give thanks to Him,
God bless one and all.

Author notes

Haiku
A short form poetry that was popular in Japan and now the world over. It consists of seventeen syllables in 3 lines, usually 5-7-5 for the traditional haiku. You may keep it to less than 17, but never more and you may also use a different syllable count per line as long as it adds up. Most haikus were nature based.

      Amera, Thank you for the applauses and your lovely words of praise for me as always. Tis the season and when this contest came across my notes I thought of so many things. So true that only mothers have that patience. I don't know how my mom did it. It was only befitting to leave this chain with my words of faith. I'm very happy that it spoke to you. Love you my friend, Joyce

      P.S. Early Easter blessings for you and yours.

    I love haikus! And a Haiku chain is something new that I've come across. Very very creative, Joyce. You've described one small but important tradiiton of Easter so succintly. I really loved this:
    'skillfully done with patience
    only mothers have'
    It's so true. Patience sometimes seems to come so naturally to them. Does a Haiku chain have only a specific number of Haikus?
    And the pic is perfect! The first time that I saw a real Easter egg was last year in Paris. I was so excited like a kid and the moronic Frogs couldn't understand why.

      Navdeep, Haikus are such a beautiful short form and they can fill the mind's eye with as much imagery as a sonnet or villanelle can in fewer words. There is no limit to the amount you can use in the chain. I just used this amount because the thoughts were still flowing on the subject. I never realized when I was younger just how much patience a mother does have. Watching my nieces, nephews and now the great ones grow showed me so much. You have me ROFLMAO with that mention of the moronic Frogs. They need to have patience and understand someone from a different culture would marvel over the little things we take for granted in ours. It makes me happy that you were so excited by it and this brought back memories of hunting for the eggs on easter morning. It fills me with so much joy and leaves a big smile on my face. I'm very happy that you enjoyed this one. I enjoyed writing it. Love you my friend, Joyce
