~My Grandma~

A heart of gold stopped beating
                                    two shining eyes at rest
god broke our hearts to prove to us
                                      he only takes the best
                                    A million times we'll cry
If love could of saved you
                                      you never would of died
It broke our hearts to lose you
                                        But you didnt go alone
For part of us went with you
The day god took you home

Wow.. just wow. I am sitting here and this has touched me so dearly.. and made my heart stop and my breathing catch. The rhyme is beautiful and the sentiment even more so..

Thank you for your entry and Welcome to Allpoetry

To loose your grandparents is never an easy thing. My grandmother died when I was 8 I really didn't understand much at the time, but I was so sad still. My only suggestion is that God should be capitalized. Otherwise good flow and structure. Thanks for sharing.

I encourage you to keep writing to read and comment.

    God Bless

would of -- would have (or 'would've). 'would of' makes no sense.

This is so very sad... You have shown both the terrible grief and the memory of happy times. This little poem is bittersweet and heartbreaking. Good luck in the contest.
