Arise

Your life has just been changed.
You do not remember this?
That is good,
That is part of the process.

You were different before,
Not the person you now see before you,
But believe me,
It is for the better.

You did many things in your life,
None of them memorable,
And none of them, not one,
That you would want others to remember.

Therefore we took you,
The old you, the tainted you,
And we changed you,
Turned you into what you should have been.

We took you,
Everything and anything about you,
And made it pure,
Removed it from you and took away your taint.

You do not need to thank us,
Nor do you even need to know us,
But live in the knowledge that you,
The unclean one, the impure one,
Have been changed.

You have been modified,
You have been tinkered with,
But most of all,
You have arisen.

Author notes

'2. I have often been compared to a Phoenix. This idea fascinates me. Write about a Phoenix. Or a Meteorite.'
I used the idea of a Phoenix as the main theme.

    I liked this!

I like that the driving force of the poem is not necessarily the death of the phoenix, but the fact that someone else was responsible for the phoenix's demise and rising.
I love how you contrasted the old life with the new.
    A solid, intriguing write.
    Thank you for entering!!!
