An azure sky with its occasional puffy, white cloud passing by
falls into gray waters tipped with silver
that run up onto golden sand.
Kites fly up and down the beach.
One that is green and yellow has orange bows trailing down the tail.
It appears quite festive.
A small, blond girl and her dad are working hard
to get a pretty pink one up far into the sky.
A lively purple kite waves to us below as it surpasses all of the others.
The red sun was soon calling for nighttime to come
and do its job, which is to turn the world black.

Definately a world of colours, and a sky of colours, you've painted here. I liked the visuals of kites - one of the most amazing things to watch and see them flutter on the wind.
This poem is indeed rich in colour and your words allow the reader to be there, to watch the little girl and her dad and all the different coloured kites. The last line almost felt a bit sombre, as if to remind us that we should spent our days wisely. A very nice take on the contest prompt.
Thank you so much for this colourful, "kiteful" entry.
