Etchings from this soul
The soul that longs to find its home
As it rips itself away from yet another whole
Only a fragment now, drifting down
Into the inkwells of the heart
To pen a masterpiece as she falls apart
Perhaps this mask was transparent
Not a clever disguise; we should never
Have to hide our hearts for the sake
Of our pride
Take my hand as I let you go
Let’s step back and breathe the broken
Shards of the lost, shards so cold…
Fragments of ice, as my tears melt away
I pull you close; look into your crying eyes
And turn away, I’ve crumbled to ruin
Shattered, frayed unto decay
This rotting heart is only an apple to its core
The star within when I break it with both hands
Once meant so much more
I can see your stars now, within your eyes
As everything bleeds to a lifeless grey
As I reach my mudded hands within
Within the cavity that I gouged in vain of my sin
This red clay that molds the soul, this mudded green
The eyes that once held so much hope
A drifting soul, as she rips herself away from another whole
Another piece molded with the thread of antiquity
As our lips melt together, an immortal kiss
Our embrace crumbling unto infinity.
