Guidelines for Huguenauties Contests

GUIDELINES for HUGUENAUTIES CONTESTS:

1. Points Bank: These are by donation. We started with 5000 and, as necessary, further donations from Huguenauties may be solicited.

2. Contests: These are open only to members of Hugh Wyles Favourites’ Group and the words:
“Huguenauties Contest No.#??  for MEMBERS OF HUGH WYLES FAVOURITES GROUP ONLY” should be included, prominently, at the top of the contest.

3. Contest Host should be sure to add themselves, the King, (and any other) as collaborators to ensure that they receive entry and IM notifications.

4. Each Contest should be entered in the Huguenauties page as being worth 750 points of which GOLD will receive 500*; SILVER 150 and BRONZE 100 points.

5. Additionally, up to three Honourable Mentions (GREEN Trophy) may be awarded at 30 points each.

6. The GOLD Winner in each contest will host and decide the theme of the next contest and should donate 300* points back to the Huguenauties Points Bank to help keep the Bank funded.
6a If any GOLD winner is unable or unwilling to host the next contest they must inform the King immediately by EMAIL h.wyles@clear.net.nz 
The King will invite the SILVER winner to act as host instead.
6b Any assistance which the Host may require should be sought from the King by EMAIL request.

7. If the Host wishes to give bonus points over the amounts stated in Rule 4. or award more than three Honourable Mentions, he/she must reimburse the Huguenauties Bank from own account via points transfer.

8. It is the responsibility of the Host to ensure that each entry is from a huguenauties member and is signed with the member’s name to avoid anonymity. Members are listed on the Huguenauties page and any other entries will be removed from the contest.

9. Winners are decided by vote of the other entrants but entrants may not vote for their own entry. Votes stating Authors’ names for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place only are to be sent by each entrant as an IM to Huguenauties.
9a.Voters should NOT vote for Honourable Mentions which are decided by the overall points tally

10. Contests should commence on the first of each month and close for voting on 22nd. Votes should then be sent by all entrants ASAP to Huguenauties by IM only  and no later than 24th after which voting is closed for assessment.

11. Assessment of votes by the King and the contest Host will be carried out on 25th of each month. Each vote being tallied as follows:
1st place……..4 points
2nd place…….2 points
3rd place…….1 point

12. The King will notify the Host ASAP of his assessment which the Host will confirm or advise by email. If confirmed, the entrant voted highest points is awarded GOLD; second highest points is awarded SILVER; third highest BRONZE and fourth, fifth and sixth highest will receive Honourable Mention.

13. In the event of a tie, the Contest Host will exercise a deciding vote.

14. Contests are primarily to encourage the writing of new (original) poetry but the Host may allow prewrites and/or more than one entry if he/she considers it necessary,
in which case voters must state titles of entries in addition to Authors’ names.

15. Neither the Host, the King or any other collaborator may enter or vote in the contest but may submit a NON-ENTRY which will not be eligible for voting.
The Host only may vote in case of deciding a tie when voting has been assessed.

1. No black backgrounds, please.
2. Rhyming poems are preferred..
3. One entry per Author. Pre-writes are/are not welcome!
4. This Contest is now open until 22nd of month when it will close for voting.
5. All entrants must vote for their pick of first, second or third place, stating names of authors, within 48 hours of closing, ie. By 24th. month.. Please send your vote by IM to huguenauties only. Entrants may not vote for their own entry.
6. Officials may enter but cannot win or vote. Their entries will include "NON-ENTRY" in the title and are not included in the voting.
7. This contest is NOT anonymous. Please sign your name at the end of each entry.
