Fallen dreams, like precious jewels
Shot at dawn in jealous duels
Before a heart of diamond dust
Within a body that’s going to rust
Beneath a mind that once foretold
A passion so intense and bold
Never to remain on this earth so dreary
A soul time eroded, and left so weary
Wishes and hopes now gone to seed
In a field once golden, now taken by weed
An ashen wind that wails with sorrow
Gone is the destiny that promised tomorrow
All the wonder of love felt anew
Has dried up with the morning dew
Caught now in the grip of a burning sun
That’s scorching away all the things to be done
The miracles of ages long past
Have sped away so fast so fast
Never again will they pass this way
Never again will there be a new day
So bundle together those tears and joys
And put them away with other lost toys
Locked away with treasures in chests of fire
Protected and hidden from fates so dire
Bound by shadows of moonbeams bright
Kept away from everyday sight
Secrets and whispers, and lovers tears
Caresses and handprints, and shameful fears
Abandoned, forgotten, gone with the breeze
That flits and tumbles ‘cross storm wracked seas.

Wise words
For as we lose one we love do we ever question what happens next after the mourning. Ash to ash. Dust to dust. What then but the soul
