On the Other Side

All the people on the new frontier
Live their lives without fear
While on the other side of the world
Children are getting their lives hurled

The problem is that nobody cares
That across the world kids are in despair
Losing the people that they love
Because the push came to a shove

Waking up nearly everyday
And strapping up to blaze away
Defending their home from those strangers
But putting their lives in danger

There's more then one fight raging on
It's one that many have forgone
The war on AIDS is burning strong
And it's lasted way too long

Some of us are willing to fight
Throughout the day and into the night
Our only obstacle is time
And that will be the end to this crime

i really like ow you ran with this song. i was expecting something more mellow and relaxed but this is a very welcome surprise. your rhyming worked rather nicely, and i love the part where you talk about pushes coming to shoves. all in all this was a great write that will have me thinking a lot over the next few days and nights. great job. best of luck and thanks for entering.

I thank you for your kind words. The song itself surprised me as it was a new experience coming up with lyrics to something like Manhattan. It was very enjoyable.

you can write lyrics if you want, but im really shooting for what the song makes you think about, how it makes you feel. but then again, those can be worked into lyrics. let your muse run wild and surprise me.
