Transcending

Above and apart from

mind’s contoured realm,

laying somewhere between

tender hope and dreams

are my tenured memories

well buffered by

prickly patches of pain

and it is the rare occasion

when I lead a soul through

with trusted resolve,

to my obscure place of refuge

where friends are welcomed.

When hopes and dreams are lost the outstretched hand of a friend can be the lifeline that is needed...you extend your hand to so many.

    Outstanding!

Very creative, innovative stretch of imagery and metaphor:
"tenured memories well buffered by prickly patches of pain"
I see this subject as having come to terms with a painful reality. Great job!! Best of luck in this contest - you have a winning poem here!!! Peace, Cyn
