I can't say that every contest is fair
sure, some judges probably aren't square;
don't mind bending or breaking the rules,
and don't care who they treat as fools.
Every game, contest or competition
has cheaters, there are no exceptions,
Not every good poem is recognized
nor poorly written poem is criticized.
The reasons to be considered here
may not always be what they appear
just as what we view as a problem concern
may not be worth the attention it earns.
Judge mental favoritism, if we look close,
assuming judging contest important to diagnose,
we might see many things in need of absolution
question being is there a recommended solution.
People who find cheating is the way
aren't worth giving the time of day
by giving attention to unfair judges and contest
we only compromise those trying to be honest.
What is more important, raising unclear implications
and minimizing those poems that deserved recognition?
Who, no matter how true, is being hurt most by these open contentions?
Certainly not those without enough conscious to run honest competitions.
The cheaters already know they suck
It doesn't bother them to devalue the poetic buck.
Many good poets take pride in their work.
Why minimize the worthy because of the dishonest jerk.
Author notes
If you can't beat them, can't change them and don't want to join them,..... then ignore the jerks.

Much truth can be said in jest but this is an important issue...we all know of those who rig the contest for their friends to win that gold or the judges who will proudly tell you how harsh they are and if you dont like it...FIG JAM .....but we do have those people who are fair dinkum and earn the respect of contestants. Corruption well we are people who make up the world in which we live where greed and ego seem to matter more to some than honesty.yeah jumping off the soapbox... well said.
Good luck in the contest.
