The Dance of Fire

It all starts with the click of a lighter,
My performance is about to begin.
This show needs no people,
Not even someone to sing.

It’s created by a spark,
From which a flame emerges.
The curtain is opening,
From me excitement surges.

The flame flares to start the show,
Fiery light surrounds me.
I’m mesmerized with the motions,
An amazing sight to see.

The audience has grown,
Which adds to my elation.
Now there are others to see,
My magnificent creation.

Their applause sounds like water,
Washing over the place.
Although the performance is over,
My heart continues to race.

Author notes

A poem I wrote for English. It is written in the view of a Pyromaniac.

    Good

Very good job of creating a powerful emotional statement. This is very good with superb imagery and the words grab you from the start and never lets go. The conscious mind extends itself beyond our norms and we enter a world composed of reality defused with imagination.

Hmm, you know I think the best word in this is 'elation'. It's an awesome word.... Someone really cool must have thought of that....... AND it rhymes with 'creation'! <3

Loooooooooooooooooooooooove the ending. There is one (emphasis on one) thing that doesn't quite feel right; it's the line, 'Not even someone to sing.' The rhyme here seems forced, although it at least makes sense. Don't eat me!!

Well my mother is asking me to get off the computer now, so I can't say more.

    Byeeeeeee.......... ^^

Well the truth is, it was forced, lmao. I just couldn't be bothered to think of anything else to put there, bahaha.

Wow, this is pretty intense... I love the beat to the poem.. and I can just visualize your dancing... but I find it is both literal & metaphorical. The ending stanza though... whew, that was amazing! "Their applause sounds like water / washing over the place / although the performance is over". Water washing away the fire.. yet this water was in a positive light.. an applause. Great job!
