I seek you still
within the moments
when my life is halted
abruptly,
when my mind
forgets to forget.

I try to find you still
within another man’s embrace,
am craving still
your words,
your basilisk stare,
remember names, jokes,
occasions

I remember you
I remember you
I remember YOU

but you are the lord of silence

so be still, my heart, be still,
for once
allow me to breathe.
