Reality:
It's what gives us dreams
But makes us not believe.
It's what makes us brand new freshmen
And lets the seniors leave.
It continually makes us wish and wish
And leaves us always dissatisfied.
Though we won't ever realize it's real,
Reality does actually have two sides.
Reality:
It's what heats up our pizza rolls
And perpetually warms our globe.
But it also makes our winters cold
And freezes out each home.
It gives us newborn optimists,
And makes the old ones die.
Don't you think it's great, but so very sad
That reality actually has two sides?
It provides a morning sunrise
With a sunset down at dusk.
It brings us many new rewards
While all our old news just
Begins to fade like all the dreams
That were new when we were young.
It kills.
It births.
It heals.
And hurts.
Reality may answer all our questions
Or leave us asking "Why?"
Don't you think it's lovely?
Don't you think it's distressing?
Does it make you happy,
Or make you want to cry?
Though we may never realize it,
Reality has always had two sides.
Author notes
The week of 2-25-08 has been one of the worst weeks of my life. I've felt all sorts of overwhelmsion, fear, sadness, and abandonment while similarly also feeling joy, accomplishment, freedom, and admiration.
This is my conclusion to all of this. It is vague, I'll admit, but in my own mind it is conclusive.

Wonderful!
Wow, I really like this. The language is beautiful, and your slant rhyme is really really good. I like "It's what heats up our pizza rolls" Lovely!
