I once read an elegy that struck deep in my veins
And the moon layed out the countryside, clear as day
In the distance, I swear, I saw your form
And I begged you to come back to me once more
But in the end, fate saw me fit to be alone
Content for me to live with the fate I had sewn
And I wish you'd given me a chance to believe
As you left the world and darkness to me
A shadow fell as the church bell rang
And a sigh sank through my body as the older monks sang
One shoe, then the other hit the broken Earth below
Taking me to a place I said I wouldn't go

great!
This is amazing and beautiful! I haven't read what has inspired you for this piece but this is very well done. I love the imagery. It brought up emotions I didn't know existed inside myself. Thanks for sharing! It was a pleasure reading.
